19th JD CYDC Program

Weld County

Ranked 9th in total population and the 2nd fastest-growing county, the 19th Judicial District focuses on serving Weld County by aiding students and youth in the juvenile justice system. The area has established programs addressing behavioral health, homelessness, detention assessment, and more. The staff at the 19th JD work closely with local organizations to better assess and meet the community's needs.

Programs:

Families First and Crossover Youth

Families First and Crossover Youth (COY), the district has put programming in place to better serve and support families in the home. There is continued effort to expand services to include an increase in mentoring providers as well as community skills programs for parents. The district continues to add services to the CYDC program specifically adding to some of the community based options that we have. In addition, we still have, and utilize, many of the evidence based programs to include the different levels of family therapy and WRAP around services.

CYDC Pre-Trial Release program

CYDC Pre-Trial Release program focuses its efforts to mitigate the risk to community safety, while holding juveniles accountable to their court issued bond conditions, through effective case management. The Pre-Trial Release program has individualized approaches to both high and low-risk cases, both of which are effectively supervised once juveniles are released from detention into the community. When there is a need expressed by the juveniles and/or families, appropriate referrals are made to community agencies to best meet those needs (i.e. mental health issues, therapy/treatment, mentoring).

Screening and Detention Programming

Screening and Detention Programming facilitates a juvenile’s point of entry into CYDC from the point of detention screening through the initial Detention Hearing or continued detainment. Staffed 24/7, Screeners administer a series of tools and assessments to determine detention eligibility and provide recommendations to the court. Working alongside youth and families, detention facilities and stakeholders, Screening and Detention aim to provide a quantified risk level that may inform next steps.
